The complete three-car Porsche works team from the 1984 Paris-Dakar Rally, in 1:64 scale by Spark.
On 1 January 1984, Porsche entered three 911 Carrera 3.2 4x4 cars — known internally as the 953 — in the sixth running of the Paris-Dakar. Roughly 11,000 km across eight countries. Of 313 cars that started, only around 92 were classified at the finish.
- #176 — René Metge / Dominique Lemoyne: outright winner. The first sports car ever to win the Dakar.
- #175 — Jacky Ickx / Claude Brasseur: two punctures and an electrical fire dropped them to 139th. They fought back to 6th overall and won the final stage.
- #177 — Roland Kussmaul / Erich Lerner: the fast support car, driven by the 953 project's own leader. Finished 26th.
The 953's four-wheel-drive system was the testbed for the Porsche 959, which went on to win the Dakar outright in 1986.
